Colorful Colorado

Vanlog, Parker, CO

I woke early and left Nicole's house before they were even awake, not wanting to disturb those hard-working doctors too early on a Saturday morning. As Robert Frost said, I had "miles to go before I sleep, miles to go before I sleep." It was a marathon drive from Omaha NE to Parker CO (in the Denver suburbs), and I had to be there by 3:30 PM. Leaving at 7:45 AM and traveling about 75 mph on average through one time zone, I stopped only for gas and a 2-min photo stop at the first Pony Express station in Gothenburg, NE, pushing through the 565 miles to arrive at my high school friend Karla's house by 3:15 PM with only 15 min to spare before we went to a graduation party at a lovely home in the mountains overlooking Denver and a beautiful sunset in the distance. It's always good to reconnect with old friends even if you haven't seen them in years and to know that those bonds you forged in your childhood can pick up right where they left off even when you have kids of your own in college now. Had another wonderful time in colorful Colorado.
