May 27 Memorial Day
Last night I was star watching and saw an amazing orange moonrise from our spot in the Valley of the Gods. We continued slowly driving through the red sandstone monoliths on the dirt and bumpy road.
Then after some gnarly gravel switchbacks and another 25 miles on paved roads, we arrived at Natural Bridges National Monument. Here you can drive a 9-mile loop past three natural bridges. You can also hike down to each of them. We got in a lot of hiking today. Only in the upper 70s but it felt much warmer. The bridges are Sipapu, Kachina, and Owachomo. They also have the ruins of a Puebloan home called Horsecollar House Ruins.
