Day 35: Palouse Falls State Park

 Sunday, June 16

Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there!

We slept late and drove 90 min Southwest in Washington to Palouse Falls State Park. This place was so out in the middle of nowhere you wouldn’t believe it! But we made the right call yesterday not going to Banff because they got snow there today even in the valley. Glacier NP in Montana also had snow. So while this was a huge detour for us, at least we had good weather. It was 43 when we got up and reached a high of 70 today. We had mostly sun with an occasional short rain shower so we did escape the bad weather. Palouse falls were recently declared the official state waterfall for Washington State after the small town schoolchildren lobbied the state legislature. The falls plummet 210 ft into the Palouse River which winds its way through a small canyon.

Then it was back in the van for a long drive to Boise ID. Turns out we had to drive west to go east! Shortest time not distance. Boondocked on BlM just off I-84 east of Boise.
